I believe in adopting directly from shelters. Purchasing from breeders, pet stores and over the internet, contributes to puppy mills and over population. If you are set on a pure bred, please remember that 25% of animals in shelters are pure bred. Let the shelter staff know what breed you are looking for, and they will contact you when one comes in.

And when you do adopt there are several ways you can help spread the good word about animal compassion through Max's story. You can:

1. Join us in the "Kids for Pits" campaign.

2. Read and donate "Max, the Shelter Dog" to a child, local library, elementary school and shelter.

3. Tell a teacher and/educator about "Max's Animal Compassion Curriculum" (MACC) and bring animal compassion into the classroom.
